Earwigs, so named because of the myth of them crawling into people’s ears to nest, are small bugs generally found outside of homes near wood or rock piles. They often get into fire wood, wooden playgrounds, etc. While they do not cause any wood or structural damage, they can be irritating and are not fun to have around, especially inside of the house.

Earwigs can be identified by their light brown color, long antennae, and two pinchers on the rear of the body. While they are not poisonous, they can pinch the skin and cause irritation in doing so. Most importantly, nobody wants bugs inside their homes and they often make their way inside.

When our technicians arrive, they will investigate any areas such as wood and leave piles, mulch areas, etc. where the earwigs may be nesting. They will treat these areas and create a barrier around the home that will prevent them from pushing further inside towards the house.
